Beyonce performed at the United Nations Friday night, in honor of World Humanitarian Day.
Superstar singer Beyonce was dressed in a glamorous skintight sequined white dress, as she performed "I Was Here" in front of hundreds of audience, in the UN's General Assembly Hall of New York City.
Songwriter Diane Warren, the author of the song, was among the audience.
When Warren first called Beyonce's husband Jay-Z and played the song over the phone, he quickly called Beyonce, who recorded the song just days later, according to The Huffington Post.

World Humanitarian Day falls on August 19, and honors the 22 humanitarian workers who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Iraq on August 19, 2003. It also recognizes all other humanitarian workers who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes.
"I'd like to ask everyone to make sure they're a part of August 19th," Beyonce said.
"It's such a beautiful, beautiful day, and I'd like to honor the 22 people who lost their lives. God bless you all. Thank you so much for having me."
"Tonight [she] brings more than her stunning talents; she brings inspiration to help another person, to help another human being," Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson said as he welcomed Beyonce.
Beyonce helped boost awareness for the event.
"I told [Beyoncé]: It's great that we have her, because she can reach millions of people," Under-Secretary General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos said while speaking with Cooper.
"I could spend the rest of my life doing what I do, and I wouldn't reach a 10th of that number. And she said: 'Don't sell yourself short.' "
"Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night?" host Anderson Cooper said jokingly.
"Because, I've gotta tell you ... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."
"I Was Here" is included in Beyonce's album "4," and its music video is set to premier on August 19.
