Rihanna opens up about relationship with Chris Brown to Oprah Winfrey for an episode of Winfrey's "Oprah's Next Chapter"

Pop star Rihanna is not afraid of flaunting a half nude picture of herself to fans on twitter but it's a different story when she puts her emotional guard down. The 24-year-old singer opens up about her relationship with Chris Brown to Oprah Winfrey in "Oprah's Next Chapter."

"It was embarrassing. It was humiliating. I lost my best friend," she said. Telling the talk show host about what is felt like post the split, she saying, "I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark."

Rihanna's heartfelt reaction came as a pleasant surprise to Oprah who was expecting something completely different.

"I went there with my own ideas of who she was by watching the videos and listening to her music," Winfrey says in a promo for the episode. "I thought she was going to be a kind of a badass, kind of a hard-edged rocker, pop woman. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.

"She pushes the edge a lot," Winfrey notes, "and there's a reason for that."

Despite selling millions of records, garnering a loyal following, and being hailed as the most social celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine, Rihanna admits that her fame has come at a price.

"I am super duper terrified of the pedestal that comes with fame," she said. "It's amazing how lonely you can feel."

Rihanna and Brown's relationship hasn't been a bed of roses and even though the two have been reported to be back together sources say the relationship is not steady and is "on and off."
