Whitney Houston's only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and adopted son, Nick Gordon, commemorate their mother's birthday -her first birthday since her death; she would've turned 49 years old today. In honor of Houston, the two got matching memorial tattoos of doves.

Brown, 19, and brother/boyfriend Gordon, 22, got their new ink at Georgia's Inksomnia Tattoo Wednesday night. The dove tattoo features Houston's initials, a quartet of beloved birds of peace and two small crosses. The pair got the matching tattoo on their right wrists. Brown tweeted the photo of her and her boyfriend's new ink with the caption "Tat tat tatted YURP.. ;) now your truly ALWAYS with us mommy (: we love you  always&forever{<3}"

The Daily News reports a statement made by the tattoo artist.  "The doves have a spiritual connotation, flying free I suppose," said Inksomnia owner Mike Cummings, who personally inked Kristina while another artist handled Gordon. According to Cummings, the couple walked in with a film crew for their new reality TV show - "The Houston Chronicles" which will air on Lifetime."They were happy at times, and sad at others. When you would talk about their mom, they got sad, but we tried to keep their spirits up," Cummings told the Daily News.

Brown and her beau were the center of family controversy after the supposed siblings started dating shortly after the legendary singer's death. Gordon was informally adopted by Houston when he was a minor. Despite their romantic relationship, the two still address each other as brother and sister and Gordon still refers to Houston as his mother. "Happy Birthday Mom You will be forever missed," he tweeted Thursday.

Houston, who drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub Feb 11, stars in the highly anticipated movie "Sparkle" which hits theaters next week. The singer helped produce the film also starring Jordin Sparks, Tika Sumpter, and Derek Luke.
