Marilyn Monroe is still a fashion icon even 50 years after her death. The world lost the beloved blonde bombshell on August 5, 1962.  Known for her baby soft voice, adorable ditziness, enchanting charm, and youthful spirit, Marilyn Monroe won the hearts of all. Men wanted to be with her and women wanted to be her.

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, Monroe was one of Hollywood's first triple threats; she was an actress, singer, and model. The American superstar is one of the world's most notable sex symbol. To this day, her image has influenced designers, stylists, and celebrities. Almost every female star pays homage to Monroe in some way or another. Whether it on the red carpet, like Taylor Swift who wore a flowy white dress, blonde curls, and a siren red pout to the Teen Choice Awards, or for a magazine cover, Marilyn Monroe comes back to life each time. Monroe's influential image has even blurred racial lines. Lil' Kim, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna have also channeled their inner Marilyn.

Monroe changed celebrity culture and the image of all women. She was a hot topic during her time. Although she was famous, she was not as well revered as she is today. Monroe was often criticized for her overtly sexy appeal. Lindsay Lohan is one of the few celebrities most compared to Monroe in the fact that she has also been misunderstood by the world, another celebrity similar to the legendary icon was Anna Nicole Smith.

Monroe wasn't just known for her short blonde curls, red lips, and iconic mole; she also got her fame for her curvy figure. During her time, celebrity women were glorified for having a slim and slender frame. Monroe broke barriers showing the world that a little extra something here and there is also sexy. Her voluptuous body with a full bust and hips spotlighted most women in the world. Stars like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, and Kate Upton carry on her legacy by flaunting their beautiful curves.

No matter how many new fads and trends enter the fashion world, Monroe's signature look still reigns as a top pick for style. The pink strapless gown she wore in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" is still seen today in many variations. Her gold slinky "Birthday" dress in which she famously sang "Happy Birthday Mr. President" to President Kennedy is still a red carpet staple.  And who could forget the famous white halter dress in "The Seven Year Itch" in which the beautiful Monroe held down her flowy dress being blown up by the wind.
