Stevie Wonder filed for divorce from his fashion designer wife Kai Millard Morris.
"Today Stevland Morris filed for divorce, ending his marriage to Kai Millard Morris," a rep said in a statement.
"As this is a private and personal matter, he asks that the public and the media kindly respect the privacy of Kai, his children, and family at this time."
Wonder cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending their 11-year marriage.
The 62-year-old music legend signed the documents on July 26th with two fingerprints, reported The New York Daily News.
The couple has been separated since October 2009, according to the paperwork obtained by TMZ.
Wonder has requested for joint custody of their sons, Kailand, 10, and Mandla, 7.
The music icon has a total of seven children from Morris and two other relationships. He was previously married to the singer and songwriter Syreeta Wright from 1970 till 1972.
Wonder agrees to pay both spousal and child support, according to TMZ.
