Selena Gomez has landed her next Hollywood project is reported to play the role of a 'Rock' and 'Role' chick in the upcoming film Parental Guidance Suggested
Selena Gomez may keep her pop sound on her next album, but the multi-talented star is getting a rock-and-roll makeover in her next film, the indie "Parental Guidance Suggested."
The story follows a teen, Ric, and his crush, Nina, as they set out on a rock-themed journey. Gomez is set to play Nina, and the Naked Brothers Band's Nat Wolff will play Ric. Also joining the cast are "The Secret Life of American Teenager" actor Austin Stowell as Nina's bad boy beau, Dylan McDermott and Cary Elwes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story is based on the 2000 novel "While I'm Dead... Feed the Dog," by Ric Browde. Tim Garrick will write and direct the film, slated to shoot in Los Angeles.
The film is the latest edgier flick to hit Gomez's docket. She's finished up work on "Spring Breakers," and is also set to appear with Eli Roth in "Aftershock" and the Ethan Hawke thriller, "Getaway." She is still keeping her younger fanbase in mind as she transitions to more mature content with the Adam Sandler vampire-themed animated flick, "Hotel Transylvania."
Additionally, she is hard at work on her 2013 album release and has just added another impressive achievement to her growing list: a Video Music Awards nomination. She's up for Best Female Video for her trippy, surreal "Love You Like a Love Song" video. She'll face off against Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna when the show goes live on September 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Gomez will also feature on the cover of Teen Vogue's September issue and she has already met up with the magazine for a cover story that will be published next month.
Gomez says her relationship with Bieber is "really fun" and feels "lucky" to have him by her side.
"I'm 20. I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously," Gomez said.
"I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically."
When asked if she's playing to take things to the next level in her relationship like Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth did in June, Gomez says, "Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life."
However, Gomez does plan to take her music career to the next level and hopes to work with Justin Timberlake someday soon.
"I don't think he ever would - I don't even think he's doing music anymore - is Justin Timberlake," she said, gushing, "Just 'cause I love his music sooo much."
Asked about the upcoming album, Gomez told MTV News in June,
“It’s not going to be necessarily, ‘Here’s my tell-all.’ It’s going to be more of something that people could say, ‘It could be that or it could be this or it could be that.’”
“At the end of the day, I only make my music because I want it [to] be really fun, and if I could have people dance to it, relate to it, have a good time, that’s all I want,” Gomez added.
Gomez's professional career and love life alike seem to be on the rise.

Given the risks that “Elementary” has been taking with the Sherlock Holmes mythology, converting not one but two main characters from men into women, it seems surprising that they chose to keep Sherlock British.
“Buffet Froid” can be translated as “cold cuts” or “cold buffet” and brings to mind the saying, “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
