Macaulay Culkin is going through some rough times. The actor has been photographed recently looking extremely gaunt and pale. The National Enquirer reports that the "Home Alone" child-star now has a serious drug problem.

The 31-year-old is reportedly battling heroin addiction. The Enquirer also reports that the actor is also using prescription painkiller oxycodone. His abuse has gotten so bad that Culkin allegedly almost overdosed. A source told the tabloid, "Macaulay Culkin is hooked on drugs and it's killing him! He's been hooked for a year and a half, and his drug of choice is either heroin or oxycodone. Mac is surrounding himself with junkies and lowlifes. It's a real tragedy." Another source added, "Macaulay Culkin is surely dying. He's addicted to heroin, oxycodone, Percocet and Vicodin... he needs serious help." Friends are worried that the actor could die in six months if he doesn't seek help. The drug problem has gone on for 18 months, according to reports.

Many speculate whether the split with longtime girlfriend Mila Kunis has anything to do with his downward spiral. Kunis reportedly broke up with Culkin in 2010, a time when her career was rapidly reaching its peak after her most serious role in the Academy Award-winning drama-thriller "Black Swan." Kunis is now happily in love with Ashton Kutcher; the two have already started vacationing together.

Culkin allegedly spends $6k a month on drugs alone but now his lawyers are shooting down those claims.

It is hoped that the allegations are false however, there is a history of drug abuse in the actor's family. His half-sister Jennifer Adamson tragically died of a drug overdose in 2000. Heartbreak and a dying acting career may be taking a toll on the young star. The once top-billed actor hasn't starred  in a movie in years. He now earns a living doing voice overs for short cartoons like "Robot Chicken" and DJ-ing at New York City clubs. Sources claim that Culkin now surrounds himself with junkies, making his alleged habit even worse.
