The Olympics is where dreams come true – for Missy Franklin, the London Olympics 2012 will be an unforgettable event that brought her dreams to reality.

She took home not only a gold medal, but also a Twitter message from Justin Bieber that expressed his “much love” to the U.S. swimmer.

Hours after the 17-year-old Franklin earned her first individual Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke on Monday, Bieber took it to Twitter to celebrate her victory.

"I just died! Thank you!" Franklin tweeted back at the Canadian heartthrob.

Another celebrity tweet for the American swimmer came from Scotty McCreery of “American Idol.”

“We’re rooting for you @franklinmissy! Keep it up! #USA,” McCreery tweeted.

“that means the world to me! Thank you so much!” Franklin responded excitedly.

Tuesday afternoon, Dick Franklin, Missy’s father, responded to reporters upon being asked whether Justin Bieber’s tweet means more than a gold medal;

"I think so,” Mr. Franklin laughed. “Not me personally thinking so, but her thinking so."

"She was all excited about that," he added.

"He's coming to Denver I think for a concert in February, and she has tickets."

Just 14 minutes before her gold medal, Franklin qualified for the 200 free final.

“What kind of high school kid can do that?” teammate Breeja Larson said.

“She’s a racer and she knows what to do,” Michael Phelps said, amazed at the teen swimmer’s stamina. “She’s a stud.”

Franklin, who is widely praised for her amazingly positive personality, goes to a high school in Aurora, Colorado, where the deadly shooting spree at “The Dark Knight Rises” premiere took place.

Franklin said she would keep the victims of Aurora in her thoughts and prayers during her time at the Olympic Games, according to The Wall Street Journal, and that she hoped to shine some light on Colorado and make them proud.
