Conservative MP Claire Perry has been criticized after claiming she thinks that Kate Middleton is pregnant.

When targeting well-known personalities to gain publicity is the name of the game, it came as no surprise that MP Claire Perry's comment on Kate Middleton being pregnant underwent much criticism.

According to the Telegraph, the comment on the Duchess of Cambridge was made during a debate at the Duchess' former school Marlborough College. Reportedly, the comment also included Perry saying that if Middleton was pregnant "it would be good for the economy." Obviously this didn't go down well with the Kate Middleton supporters and here is what a few of them had to say.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers said, "It's quite clearly none of her business to make remarks of that kind, and presumably it is not very helpful either."  He added, "She seems to be a bit of a loose cannon, and this is probably more loose cannon fire from Mrs Perry."

"It's very unhelpful for her to say that. She would have no insider knowledge," Royal observer Ingrid Seward has been quoted as saying. Ingrid added, "It will be the best-kept secret of all time. There is no way they would want people to know before it was appropriate. Historically there has always been speculation about this sort of thing, and of course you cannot stop people saying what they want. I should think the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are probably pretty used to it but also pretty fed up with it."

A few also took to social forums and blogs to voice their opinion. Here's what they had to say:

"She won't get pregnant until she puts some weight on!!!" - sally, Worcestershire

"Whether she is pregnant or not, it is for Kate and William to decide when to speak about it, no one else. If it was me and I found out someone had been telling people I was pregnant, I personally would be fuming as it is no one else's business except the possible parents to be." - Paige, Paisley, Scotland

"How would her having a baby help the economy? If it were true then before you know it every feckless chap would be jumping on the band wagon and accelerating the current output of the next generation of thieves, drug users and violent offenders." - Malthus, Blackburn

The Royal family has not yet commented on the same and has said that they would not comment of speculations of this nature or reply to Perry's remark.
