MTV announced on Tuesday July 24 that '90s hit show "House of Style" will be returning this fall.
The show which featured iconic supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Molly Sims will now get a modern makeover. Most of the show will be digitally driven on MTV's style blog but it will include some short television installements. Fashionista caught up with the shows executives Sophia Rai (vice president MTV Digital) and Dav Sirulnick (executive vice president, Multiplatform Production, News and Music at MTV), and they revealed future plans for the show.
In the pre-fashion blog days, "House of Style" was the source for all fashion lovers to get behind-the-scenes look at the fashion industry. " 'House of Style' is deeply rooted in celebrating and drawing energy from our audience's mix-and-match love of fashion, music and pop culture," said Sirulnick.
In anticipation of the "House of Style" relaunch, MTV has made available an archive of over 150 clips and thousands of images from every episode. MTV will also air the documentary "House of Style: Music, Models and MTV" on Tuesday, August 7. The documentary will refresh everyone's memory of why the show was so impactful and some '90s trends.
The new host and face of "House of Style" will be revealed during the red carpet of the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards live on September 6. If you're wondering who will be the new host, keep guessing. The team hasn't found anyone yet. "We're talking to a lot of people. Probably everyone you're thinking of and everyone you're not," said Rai.
Although it will have a modern twist, the show will remain its authenticity and openness of fashion. "We do want to go backstage with models, and the people that we talk to have such a fondness for the show that they want to be involved. But the original series didn't just cover the convergence of music and fashion, it also featured architecture, design. We want to do that, too," said Rai.
