The nightmare of Colorado shooting is hardly over, and here is the second disturbing news of utter insensitivity.
On the very day of the mass shooting at the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, which killed at least 12 and wounded 58, outrage sparked over a fashion brand which tried to cash in on the trending keyword #Aurora on Twitter.
Now, three days after the deadly massacre, Machine Guns Vegas has instantly become notorious for its senselessness by announcing the release of the “Louis Vuitton” grip handgun.
"MACHINE GUNS VEGAS GETS IT ON WITH LOUIS VUITTON GUN GRIP," reads the title of the press release.
Amidst gun control debate in the wake of Colorado shooting, the news of a luxurious handgun comes as a shocker.
Machine Guns Vegas is a firing range that "provides a uniquely Las Vegas firearms experience," says the release.
“Like Marc Jacobs putting Sponge Bob Square Pants onto LV monogrammed bags, Machine Guns Vegas has created their own Louis Vuitton accessory – a monogrammed Louis Vuitton grip for a handgun – which is legal to carry in the State of Nevada.”
“We have a real demand to cater to gun enthusiasts who also have a desire to look stylish, hence our foray into Louis Vuitton gun accessories” said the firm’s Managing Partner Genghis Cohen.
Furthermore, Machine Guns Vegas is violating intellectual property rights for creating its own Louis Vuitton “accessory,” Fashionista pointed out, since Louis Vuitton had nothing to do with the new item.
“Louis Vuitton is in no way associated with this company. We do not manufacture gun grips and do not condone the alteration of our creations in any way,” the high-end brand said in a statement.
In every way, Machine Gun Vegas has pressed the wrong button at the worst timing.
