Skincare commercial endorsed by Justin Bieber and Katy Perry has been banned in UK by The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)
Advertizing watchdogs are always alert. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned the commercial of a skincare product; Proactiv that has been endorsed by celebrities Justin Bieber and Katy Perry after receiving complaints that the advert was misleading. Allegedly the UK version of product didn't contain the same ingredients as the American version.

The company involved in the marketing of the product reportedly told ASA that the stars endorsing the product have used the UK version of the product and have found no fault. However, according to the ASA, this doesn't back the commercial claim.
Besides Bieber and Perry, celebrities who have endorsed this product include Elle Macpherson and Avril Lavigne. Reportedly, they too have signed on a statement to the organization that they have personally used the UK version of the skincare product before endorsing it. This too hasn't affected the ASA's decision.
The ASA released a statement saying,
"We considered the overall impression of the ads was that the celebrities were continued and regular users of Proactiv and noted the same endorsement claims were included on the US Proactiv website."
It continues, "We noted the ads were targeted at a UK audience and that the UK Proactiv products had a different active ingredient to the US version. In that context, we therefore considered the claims of continued use had not been substantiated. We concluded that the ads were misleading. The ads must not appear again in their current form."
