Kate Middleton, the royal fashion icon who seems to stir fashion buzz without ceasing, rocked an Olympic-themed necklace from Cartier, worth staggering £49,000.
The Duchess of Cambridge stunned in perfectly Olympic theme, as she helped open "Road to 2012: Aiming High," an exhibition of athlete portraits held at the National Portrait Gallery in London Thursday.
Kate Middleton wore Cartier’s Trinity necklace over a blue Stella McCartney shift dress, paired with Prada heels.
The luxurious necklace, with 18K, three-gold and paved in diamond, features five intertwined circles of pink, yellow and white gold, symbolizing the Olympics rings.

"It's a personal piece which she's had for some time. It's not an official Olympic item but it's appropriate to wear it," said a St James's Palace spokesman.
Kate Middleton is the patron of the National Portrait Gallery. The Duchess also serves as an Ambassador for Team GB and ParalympicsGB.
For this special occasion, Kate’s fashion choice was especially shiny.
Kate Middleton’s beauty and style have captivated countless hearts worldwide, and the royal fashion icon has been so coveted by fashion magazines that Middleton was recently photoshopped onto the cover photo of Marie Claire South Africa’s August issue. Mixed reactions followed.
The Duchess of Cambridge in her smile appears on the magazine’s cover dressed in a long-sleeve animal print shirt, wrapped by a red printed dress.
The photo, however, was photoshopped – with Kate Middleton’s face superimposed on a model’s body dressed in designs by Sotuh African designer Clive Rundle.
“Kate Middleton is, without a doubt, the world's new style icon…. We have honored her with a fan-art tribute, dressing her up in clothes by South African designers and placing her in all sorts of fun, everyday situations," Aspasia Karras, editor of the magazine, told The Daily Telegraph.
Another recent controversy was sparked by the existence of Wikipedia page “Wedding dress of Kate Middleton.”
The world adored and envied when Kate Middleton was dressed the ivory and satin Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton at her wedding to Prince William in April 2011.
But whether her wedding dress is worth getting a Wikipedia page or not is another story.
Wikipedia editors became furious over the sheer existence of such entry, taking their anger to Wikipedia’s Talk page pleading for the removal of “Wedding dress of Kate Middleton” page.
