In June there were rumor reports of sultry crooner Lana Del Rey being the face of H&M. Today the retailer confirmed the rumor with images from the ad campaign.
The ad features Del Rey in her own original style (she does fit with H&M's aesthetic after all). The songstress wore her hair in her signature bouffant and donned retro cat-eyes.
The ad, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, features the "National Anthem" singer wearing a fuzzy peach sweater paired with matching peach pants.
"The mood is very L.A. noir," Donald Schneider, H&M's creative director, told WWD. "It's inspired by our fall collection."
Although she's been the apple of fashion's eye with her magazine covers (most recently, Vogue), being signed by Next modeling agency, and even Mulberry naming a bag after her, this is Del Rey's first major ad campaign.
Del Rey will front both fall and winter campaigns. Of course no ad campaign is complete without a mini film. A music video for the exclusive Lana Del Rey cover of fifties classic, "Blue Velvet", will debut September 19 on H&M's website.
