In June, Karl Lagerfeld announced his collaboration with popular Japanese cosmetics brand, Shu Uemura. Lagerfeld is currently working on a limited edition holiday makeup line -"Noël 2012- for the brand.
The Chanel designer has been a major fan of Shu Uemura and uses their products on many occasions, however not with intended usage. He uses the makeup to brighten his design sketches because "other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors."
Vogue Paris paired up Lagerfeld and Mr. Shu Uemura for a meeting back in September 2006; it was then that the idea for an iconic collaboration was conceived. Six years later and now there's a video teaser to show what's to come.
Mon Shu Girl Birth Story presents the collection's cute and colorful mascot. The video features an animated Karl Lagerfeld sketching the little Mon Shu girl with his favorite sketching instrument - Shu Uemura. The vibrant doll, "who blends Japanese pop with European chic, loves ultra pigmented make-up and stylish accessories."
A preview of the 17 piece collection will be available late October in the beauty pages of November Vogue Paris issue and exclusively at Colette starting in November, then mid-November at www.shuumura.fr and on their Facebook pages - Shu Uemura and Karl Lagerfeld.
