Vera Wang, a renowned designer whose creations have long been among the red carpet favorites, has split from Arthur Becker after nearly 23 years of marriage.

"Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters," Mario Grauso, President of Vera Wang told E! News on Wednesday.

The couple would have celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary in two weeks. 

Wang has created elegant wedding dresses for celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Ivanka Trump, Chelsea Clinton, Mariah Carey, Brooklyn Decker and Alicia Keys.

The celebrity designer herself, however, had never expected to wear a wedding dress.

"I was the girl who nobody thought would ever get married. I was going to be a fashion nun the rest of my life," Wang told New York magazine back in 2006.

Yet the now 63-year-old designer and her husband held their wedding in 1989, when Wang was working for Ralph Lauren as the design director. The following year, Wang ventured out to open a signature salon in The Carlyle hotel.

Becker, who was formerly tech company NaviSite’s CEO, is known for guiding Wang’s mass-market ventures as a business partner, and he was increasingly involved with day-to-day operations at Vera Wang in recent years, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Vera Wang brands have grown as an multimillion-dollar empire, encompassing a wide range of products - from bridal gowns to high- and low-end fashion, fragrances, cosmetics, luggage, shoes and publishing.

“They will not let this impact the running of the company,” couple’s friend told WWD.

“They have worked too hard to build it up."

Details regarding a possible divorce filing have not been revealed.

The couple has two daughters – Cecilia, 21, and Josephine, 18.
