Rihanna went back to her homeland, Barbados, yesterday (July 10) to say her final goodbyes to her beloved grandmother, whom she endearingly called Gran Gran Dolly. Her grandmother was laid to rest after losing her battle with cancer.

The sorrowful star looked sophisticated and classic with an upswept beehive hairdo, dark purple lipstick, and a demur little black dress. The trend-setting icon added her own spice to the classical look with a pair of heel-less strappy shoes.  Rihanna's devastation was clear to see on her face.

Rihanna could've backed out of her scheduled performance at the Wireless Festival over the weekend, but the popstar stayed strong and showed up for her fans despite a heavy heart.

The star seems to have problems keeping a strong face when she's not working however. She instagramed a photo of her and a bottle of beer with the caption "I had to!!! Sorry granny."

Rihanna has received an outpour of support from her fans and even her old flame, Chris Brown. She expresses her sadness and emotions via her Twitter and Instagram. She recently tweeted, "#grangrandolly you are going to have the best party today. #allblackerrthang! and I'm gon' try to hold it all in, try to hold back my tears."
