According to critics who attended an early screening, Christopher Nolan's latest masterpiece, starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, is nothing short of spectacular.
“The Dark Knight Rises,” the final film of the Batman trilogy, is expected to easily topple its current record holder "The Dark Knight" in 2008, which previously soared to an impressive 158.4 million in its opening weekend.
Positive reviews have boosted fans’ expectation.
"The Dark Knight Rises has just finished screening for the press and critics, receiving a STANDING OVATION!!!," a film viewer Lauren Hiestand commented, according to Comic Book Movie.
"If this does not break the mold and win Best Picture, no comic book movie ever will #TDKR," Critic Marco Gennuso said.
"Wow quite speechless at the moment ... It was everything I wanted it to be," Vince Peluso wrote on Facebook.
"Some fans will find certain aspects controversial, but in my eyes everything in the film fit the overall scheme of this installment and the series in general, and Nolan really couldn't have made it any more epic."
“The Dark Knight Rises” is set to hit regular and IMAX theaters nationwide on July 20th. Advanced tickets went on sale a week ago, and midnight shows were swiftly sold out, reported MTV.
