Designer and retailer collaboration takes on a groundbreaking feat in the marvelous project done by Target, Neiman Marcus, and 24 CFDA designers for the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection. Top-notch designers from Marc Jacobs, to Oscar de la Renta, to Diane von Furstenberg are all on board for this epic collaboration. Each designer will design up to three items for the collection. All products will be sold at both Target and Neiman Marcus. The collection will be modestly priced from $7.99-$499.99, with most items costing under $60. Despite the fair cost, the designer items are nothing short of pure luxury; materials included in the collection are leather and silk, hand beading, hand-blown glass and 18K gold. According to WWD and press releases from Target and Neiman's, the massive collection will consist of menswear, womenswear, children's apparel, accessories, sporting goods, home décor, pet accessories, and electronic accessories.

Neiman Marcus provided all the designers while Target brought about its mass production advantage. In honor of CFDA's 50th anniversary, both Target and Neiman Marcus are donating $1 million to the organization. "I can think of no better finale to CFDA's 50th Anniversary celebration than through this extraordinary designer collaboration," CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg said in a Target release.
To avoid the inevitable over-capacity consumer traffic which can result in misplaced orders and crashed websites, both retailers have their own inventory. However, WWD predicts that the product will sell out in a matter of days.
Below is the full list of designers:
Alice + Olivia, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Eddie Borgo, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Philip Crangi, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne, Tracy Reese, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Tory Burch.
Never before has a high-street and high-end retailer join forces. "Target and Neiman Marcus are known for charting new terrain, and by joining forces for the holiday season, we've set the stage for a redefining moment in retail," said Gregg Steinhafel, chairman, president and CEO, Target. "This collaboration is unlike anything Target has done before, and we are confident our guests will be thrilled with this extraordinary collection that features some of America's most preeminent designers."
"Neiman Marcus and Target share a passion for great design and delighting customers in new and unexpected ways," said Karen Katz, president and CEO, The Neiman Marcus Group. "We are thrilled to be collaborating to offer a spectacular and special collection of one-of-a- kind items for the holidays. These will be the "must-have" gifts, whether you are a loyal Neiman Marcus customer, a devoted Target guest or a fan of American design."
An ad campaign including TV, print, and digital will launch in fall. The collection, consisting of over 50 luxurious gifts, will hit stores on December 1 at Neiman Marcus stores, Target stores, NeimanMarcus.com and Target.com.
