Elle's August issue will no doubt fly off the shelves thanks to their hot-topic cover-girl, Katie Holmes. The soon-to-be-ex-wife of Tom Cruise reveals her sexy side for the cover, a side we have not seen from Ms. Holmes in years.

In the accompanying interview (which was done mid-may), the 33-year-old actress opens up about her very-secretive life. One comment in particular is sure to raise eyebrows as Holmes talks about entering a "new phase".  The New York Post reveals the interior details.

 "I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out . . . I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase."

Does that "new phase" include divorcing an allegedly controlling husband? Many are claiming that Holmes has been planning this divorce for at least a year.

When asked about her husband she said,

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that."

That can be easily translated into, "I don't want to walk in his shadow any longer".

When discussing her marriage she said,

"Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances."

Katie Holmes definitely did not hide her emotions at a time where no one would expect what was to come.  Perhaps this was her way to release some sort of a statement without really having to.

Sources close to the magazine are saying that Holmes did not speak about her marriage in a "lovey-dovey way at all." She "deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself."

Holmes has been busying herself in the fashion world, filming reality shows and working on her fashion line. She is working hard to get her career back on track. 

The issue will hit newsstands July 17.
