Holmes made her first post-divorce-announcement appearance yesterday in NYC on her way to film as a guest-judge on Project Runway: All Stars; the star was all smiles. Despite all the drama surrounding her divorce, a reportedly ring-less Holmes stayed true to her commitment and manages to keep a busy career. In addition to keeping herself working, she has also made drastic changes in her staff, firing every member connected to Cruise (includes security team and publicist). According to sources, Katie just wants her life back. She has allegedly lost movie roles due to Cruise's controlling nature; reports say that Cruise discouraged her from doing a Dawson's Creek reunion because it was too "low-brow" although Holmes really wanted to take the role.

The star and daughter seem to have stayed in New York City while the soon-to-be-ex-husband and Suri's father, Tom Cruise turns 50  today (July 3) in Iceland.

The Rock of Ages actor is currently in Iceland filming his latest flick, Oblivion. He will be spending his birthday without daughter and wife of five years. It was just weeks ago when Cruise told reporters that he and family will be celebrating his birthday together. He shared with PEOPLE his birthday plans,  "Iceland is beautiful [...]  We like hiking, and so we'll have some nice hikes and maybe go camping." 

Holmes is reportedly fighting for sole custody of their 6-year-old daughter in hopes to save her from attending Church of Scientology's Sea Organization, where children begin a lifelong commitment to the religion.
