Fashion icon Versace kicked off Paris Fashion Week with a front-row full of celebrities and a catwalk full of color.
Sunday's showcase treated the "who's who" to an array of pastels, rainbow hues, hyper-detailing and fabrics replete with movement and shimmer at Versace's opening show.
Front row faces included actress and former model Milla Jovovich, singer MIA, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, actresses Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Banks and "Mad Men" style maven, Christina Hendricks. Chinese beauty, Fan Bing Bing.
In true Versace style, there was no shortage of frothing chiffon, skin-tight leather and ostentatious crystal embellishments, with dresses slashed, stitched and patched to slinky, form-fitting finished product.
Paired with classic hair and makeup, models showed off the best of the appellation-controlled haute couture designs, Versace first of an elite pool of top labels to show their one-off creations at the annual event.
Long limbs, gladiator-style, calf-high, heeled sandals and daring cut-outs took to the star-lined runway, with the design house's lady at large, Donatella, who said she took inspiration from a set of Tarot cards, giving the show her final, perma-tanned seal of approval.
It's been a big weekend for Atelier Versace, with the label launching its inaugural jewellery line on Sunday. True to form, the hand-sculpted and one-of-a-kind pieces are dripping with diamonds, emeralds, amethysts, yellow diamonds and sapphires.
"As a designer and a collector of fine jewelry I have always wanted to offer the same quality of craftsmanship in jewelry as we offer with the Atelier Versace fashion collection," Dontella said. "Individual ring from the collection is a work of art."
