Lenovo Philippines launched on June 21 two new Ultrabook models - the 13.3-inch IdeaPad U310 and the 14-inch U410- as well as 16 new PC models at a fashion show at the PICC, Manila. The show featured designs by Michi Calica Sotto, inspired by the Lenovo line. The models also wore jewelry by Elena Bautista, shoes by Lupe Saenz and bags from the Nicole Sheker Bag Collection, all for Bonne Bouche.
According to an article on GMA News, Lenovo Philippines Country General Manager Vicky Agorrilla introduced the latest Ultrabook series powered by Intel Core second and third generation processors. According to Intel Philippines General Manager Ricky Banaag, Intel's 22-nanometer (nm) 3-D tri-Gate transistor technology translates to faster computing, less heat, and better energy efficiency.
Lenovo also announced a partnership with Microsoft, recommending Windows 7 for all its models. Microsoft Philippines Program Specialist Geraldine Marquez explained the Enhanced Experience 3 (EE3), which features RapidBoot technology, which allows the computer to start up 40% faster than a typical Windows 7 PC. PCs normally take up to 41 seconds to start up, but RapidBoot speeds it up to 24 seconds. The other component of EE3 is Bootshield, currently only featured in Lenovo computers. Bootshield maintains a computer's speed even after installing multiple applications.
The ThinkPad Edge models were presented by Lenovo Philippines 4P Manager for SMB Francis Judan. Intended for Small and Medium Business solutions, this line features a simplified user interface, longer battery life and pre-loaded applications like the Lenovo Solution Center. The new ThinkPad line for SMBs was originally launched in 2010.
The Ultrabooks were presented by Lenovo Philippines 4P and Distributor Manager for Consumers, Ida Ong. Available with I3 or I5 Intel Core processors, the Ultrabooks feature the Smart Update capability, which updates mailbox, IM and social media messages even while in sleep mode. The Ultrabooks also come with EE3, the OneKey Rescue System and Energy Management. Similar to the popular MacBook Air in look and dimensions, the IdeaPad U310 features an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 HD graphics, a 13.3" HD display, stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theater V4 audio enhancement and an integrated 720p HD webcam.
One of the more affordable options is the Lenovo IdeaPad S110 netbook, which features an Intel Atom N2800 Dual-Core processor, a 10.1" display, and integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3650. The IdeaPad U310 (Php 39,995) and the U410 (Php 48,995) will be available in the Philippines by July 2012, from Lenovo Exclusive Stores and retailers. The IdeaPad Z480 (starting at Php 34,955) will be in stores by the end of June.
The IdeaPad Y480 (Php 50,955) and the IdeaPad S110 (Php 16,995) are in stores now. No pricing was announced for the ThinkPad and ThinkCentre PCs.
