Katy Perry has been promoting her upcoming concert documentary Part of Me 3D, which will hit theaters July 5^th.  In her new cover story in the Hollywood Reporter, Perry discusses what to expect in the film and opens up about her brief marriage to Russell Brand.   

"There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I'm about to go up on that ramp and sing 'Teenage Dream,'" she said. "Nobody knows what really happened except the two people who are in it." Although only Perry and Brand know what exactly happened between them, a glimpse into their marriage is also featured in the documentary. Perry's openness is due to her candid nature, "Like how I write my songs, honesty has always worked for me ... So if it ain't broken why f---ing fix it?"

On route of her media circuit, Perry stopped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She explained that she revealed her personal struggles in the movie in order for it to be relatable. "I think that if you went to see the movie and it was completely avoided you come out of that theatre going, 'Hmmm...That's strange, I know something else did happen at that time in her life last year'," she said. She believes she handled her public divorce with the upmost integrity. She went on to say, "I wanted to handle it very delicately with the most integrity I could possibly have and show people that like 'Look yeah I'm going through some of the same situations that half of America goes through', and somehow I landed on my feet and you don't have to lay down and die even if you feel like you're going to." Luckily, Perry still believes in love. 

Other than her personal life, the Teenage Dream singer dished about her future plans - having her own record label. She wants to have a label dedicated to helping struggling artists, giving them a chance the same way she got hers. "When it does come to fruition, I'm going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success," she said. "As people are coming to me with opportunities, I'm thinking, 'How would I want to be treated?'"
