Hearst Magazine, which recently acquired the publishing house of former fashion magazine, Elle Accessories, is having talks on bringing back the magazine for publication.
Elle Accessories was a magazine dedicated to accessories and accessories alone. It told fashion enthusiasts everything they needed to know about handbags, jewelry, shoes and just about any other accessory one could think of. The magazine was introduced in 2005 and lasted for just three years before it stopped being published. It was a spinoff of Elle magazine that was introduced by Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.
Recently Hearst Magazine acquired this magazine publisher (touted to be one of the biggest magazine publishers). The magazine has decided to bring back the American edition of the former magazine. It will have two editions, a spring issue and a fall one.
According to the New York Times, Hearst Magazine has decided to print 500,000 copies of the Fall issue this year. Some will be sold by retailers while some will be bundles along with Elle. One of the magazine's main advertisers Neiman Marcus will run a 12-page layout.
Quality of pictures in the magazine will also be better than what it was.
"In 2008 and 2009 these businesses were so stressed," said David Carey, president of Hearst Magazines in New York, part of the Hearst Corporation. "The high end today is very strong at retail and as a result is very strong for the magazines."
"We love new ways to express what we do," Carey said. "There are other things percolating through the organization. So if you ask me if more of these are coming out of Hearst Tower, the answer is yes."
