Danconia Studios announced Thursday the June 16 launch of the new MAYUMI-GUMI collection of apparel, art, and accessories, which will open at the upscale contemporary fashion boutique, Disney Vault 28, located in Downtown Disney.
Designed by Sean D'Anconia, a rising designer and pop-artist whose work merges cult cinema and animation, the line celebrates MAYUMI, a Japanese She-Kitten jet-setting fashionista, whom he created. The collection includes exclusive limited-edition apparel, retro airline-style bags, iPhone and iPad cases, and one-of-a-kind, mixed-media art prints.
"Mayumi at once revels in and playfully glamorizes the bubble-gum pink, sparkling disco-ball inferno of Kawaii (cute) Culture, which has its origins with characters like Astro Boy and Hello Kitty in the 1960-70's," D'Anconia said in a press release. MAYUMI-GUMI is our contribution to this imaginative and ever-evolving sub-culture."
The designer will be at the boutique, located at 1580 South Disneyland Drive, Suite 104, in Anaheim, CA in the famed shopping district of Disneyland the day of the launch from 4-6 pm to sign products and meet fans.
