Atelier Versace Announces Return to The Couture Catwalk in Paris

Apr 25, 2012 08:04 AM EDT

On April 24th, 2012  Donatella Versace announced she would be bringing Atelier Versace (the couture wing of her fashion empire) back to Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week last season. Now, buoyed by the success of last season's presentation, the Italian fashion label has announced it will make a full return to the couture catwalk next season.

One of the last events to take place at the Paris Ritz before it closes for restoration on July 31, the show will take place on July 1 in the iconic hotel's Salon Vendôme, and will be the first Atelier Versace catwalk show since 2004.

The show is sure to be an emotional return for Donatella: the Ritz hosted multiple shows while her brother Gianni, the label's namesake, was still alive, and for three years after his death in 1997.

"It is with tremendous emotion that I return to the Ritz where I shared so many special moments with my brother," Versace said of the upcoming show. "The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one, so to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone."

Following Atelier Versace's return to the couture catwalk schedule, a host of celebrities have championed its designs on the red carpet including Heidi Klum, Lady Gaga, and - perhaps most famously - Angelina Jolie's right leg.
