Former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld finally launches her new fashion magazine and has named it CR Fashion Book.
The cover of the magazine has the editor's initials spread across the page in her own handwriting. The book will debut in September under Stephan Gan's New York based company, Fashion Media Groups LLC. The publishing company also published noted fashion magazines like Visionaire, V and VMan. The newly launched magazine will be published twice annually.
The first issue will have 288 pages and will feature approximately 100 advertisement pages. Some of the advertisers include top fashion brands including Chanel, Gucci, cartier, Giorgio Armani and Louis Vuitton. According to Roitfeld, all these advertisers were "very receptive and eager to participate". WWD has a few pages from the magazine's mock-up that was shown to advertisers - so, not the real issue, but something like it - which features a cover starring model Kati Nescher and fashion spreads shot by Sebastian Faena. In addition to the magazine's paper edition, a corresponding website will contain shorter, newsy pieces.
The cover price: $9.95. Right now, the magazine is based out of the Standard Hotel and each issue will apparently have a theme. Most importantly, Roitfeld makes clear the new magazine is not looking to compete with Vogue. "The page has been turned," she told WWD. "It's time to find something new, something fresh -- for me and for the readers."
