Bollywood movies are a huge business in India, selling over $4 billion worth of tickets each year. For the first time, India’s 2014 International Indian Film Academy Awards will be held in the United States in Tampa, FL and have also revealed some of the nominees.

It’s no surprise that “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” is leading in the nominations at the 59th Filmfare Awards for nine different categories such as best film, best director for Ayaan Mukerji and best actor for Ranbir Kapoor.

Zee News reported that “Ram Leela” landed seven nominations including best film while Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been nominated in the best director and best music director category. The film’s lead actor, Ranveer Singh, has been nominated as best actor. Hrithik Roshan has also been nominated as best actor for his role in “Krrish 3.”

Deepika Padukone bagged a nomination for best actress for her role in “Ram Leela.”

Farhan Akhtar’s character in “Bhaag Milka Bhaag” won him a nomination in best actor category along with director Rakeysh Ompraksh Mehra and the film.

“Chennai Express” star Shahrukh Khan and Anand L Rai from “Raanjhanaa” received six nominations each.

IIFA is much like Hollywood’s Oscars with awards and performances from your favorite celebrities. Last year’s IIFA was held in Macau, hosted by Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor, and now Dr. Kiran Patel helped make this event happen for 2014.

“The magnitude of the event can only be perceived when it’s witnessed,” said Patel to ABC Action News. “And for many of these people here, this is something they’ve never seen.”

The awards ceremony will kick off on April 23 and continue through the 26th, leading up to the IIFA’s trademark green carpet at the Raymond James Stadium.

Tickets for the show went on sale on Jan. 14 with individual ticket prices ranging from $93.50 in the upper levels of the stadium to $3,294.75 on the field near the stage.

Not only is the awards weekend, which focuses on Indian film, fashion, music, business and culture, expected to draw in 30,000 or more visitors to the bay area, but other Hollywood celebrities are expected to make an appearance as well.

The IIFA Awards have previously been held in London, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Netherlands, Dubai, Thailand, Toronto and a few others.
