With a strong career in hand, Carrie Underwood could be facing a downfall this New Year as several reports are saying that the country star and her husband could be heading for splitsville.

Underwood and Mike Fisher are allegedly feuding with each other over plans for their future. According to Star Magazine (as per IB Times), Underwood wants to focus on her career while the hockey player is keen on starting a family.

As the country singer prepared for her successful performance in the “Sound of Music,” her husband felt “ignored” but stayed positive that they would soon settle to start a family after the premier, however it appears Underwood has other plans. She is reportedly more interested in taking on similar career opportunities, putting pregnancy plans on hold.

“Mike only put up with Carrie’s consuming role because she promised to work on starting a family when the show finally wrapped ... Carrie is reneging on her baby promise,” stated the report.

An insider close to the couple revealed that the couple is now having marital issues after the argument.

“Mike is fuming,” said the source. “Carrie is thrilled about all the opportunities but she’s very conflicted and confused. She and Mike are barely speaking.”

The couple’s separate careers could also be messing up their marriage.

“Between his schedule with the Nashville Predators and her rehearsals, they barely saw each other the last three months. When they did steal some alone time, Carrie was wiped out physically and emotionally. The ordeal left Mike feeling neglected and ignored,” added the source.

The “American Idol” winner previously opened up about not wanting children at the moment too, however, earlier this year in an interview, Underwood explained that she would give up her career in order to support her marriage and husband.

“He knows [performing] is what I love, and he completely supports me in it, as I do him,” said Underwood to People Magazine. “But if Mike ever told me he needed me to quit, I’d quit. When you make that promise to somebody, and you stand before God and your family and friends, you’ve got to do everything that you possibly can to make that work.”
