Although “Mad Men” will end after Season 7, diehard fans – and some of the cast – would like to see it continue. Star Jon Hamm recently talked about why the hit show will never become a movie while promoting the release of “Mad Men” Season 6 on DVD and Blu-ray.

''If they ever make Mad Men the movie, I hope they at least cast me in some part. They would probably cast somebody way more famous than me,” Hamm told the Sydney Morning Herald.

''I don't know, honestly. I think the reason there are very few television shows that become successful films is that they're completely different ways to tell a story,” he explained.

“I think that's kind of why there probably won't be a Mad Men movie. It's hard to condense the world that we have into such a small package…There's a reason that we're going to watch Transformers movies until we all die, because there are endless iterations of that for 2½ hours that can crash into each other and entertain people.

“We could turn Don Draper into James Bond, make him a spy and run around and kiss pretty girls and rappel down windows, but that's not Mad Men. That's James Bond.''

Show creator Matthew Weiner has previously spoken about the series ending, saying there’s no chance for a spin-off series or any continuation of the story.

"There's no chance," Weiner said. "No judgment against anybody else -- but this is it. This is the story. When it's done, it's done."

"Every season is a new story, and I don't want to get bored but I also don't want to let the audience down," Weiner said. "For me, I start over. And there's this kind of thing that happens with the audience every year where it's like they're very happy to see us back in the premiere, and when the new story starts around episode two they start getting antsy and then they get with it by episode three when they see it's a new story."
