Marie-Amélie Sauvé has been floating around the fashion industry for the past decade, similar to a free agent. She gained major grounds at Paris Vogue as a staffer and recently at US Vogue as a contributor. The stylist keeps a high-profile relationship with Balenciaga house and its head designer, Nicolas Ghesquière.
The role she plays at the moment is unclear, but in the larger scope she acts as a Balenciaga jack-of-all trades, serving as the designer's muse and the brand's stylist as well as a representative. She attends fashion week's dressed head-to-toe in Balenciaga- a good magnet for street photographers.
The Sauvé-Ghesquière relationship can clearly be seen in her wardrobe. The stylist has just been signed on in a very prominent presitgous positon as the new senior fashion editor at W. Yet the concern lies with her high level of respect for Ghesquière. Can we expect Balenciaga to dominate the pages- the quality would certainly go down. Rather, the same artistic eye she shares with Ghesquière can also be emulated in the designer brands. I'ld say lets hope for the best and wish her the best.
