Shahrukh Khan Baby AbRam, Gauri News: High Court Refuses to Interfere with Filed Complaint
After the birth of Shahrukh Khan’s surrogate baby AbRam, he experienced some health issues including a sex determination. Now, a complaint has been filed against SRK and his wife Guari for conducting pre-birth sex determination tests of their son. The Bombay High Court refused to interfere in the date set by local court.
Zee News reported that Justice Sadhana Jadhav was hearing a petition filed by social activist Varsha Deshpande for early hearing of the complaint filed by her in the magistrate court seeking action against SRK, Guari and others under Pre-conception of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act.
Deshpande issued a notice to the respondents and posted the matter for hearing on September 12.
The actor’s third child was born to a surrogate mother recently at a private hospital, the complaint said, and claimed that gender testing was banned under the act. The lawyer said she had earlier filed a complaint with health department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation following media reports about a child being born to the couple through surrogacy amidst allegations that gender test had been conducted.
“We are trying to cover this sad news with happy moments. We are happy that our son is born...we hope he will be fine,” said Shahrukh Khan to Deccan Chronical. “Its saddening what is happening. I hope I am not called again and again personally...it is sad.”
The High Court said it was not inclined to interfere in the matter and adjourned the petition for hearing after three weeks.
“We know that directions for speedy hearing are given in such case in larger public interest. So that such complaints do not remain pending. But let us first see what the magistrate does on the next date of hearing,” said the court to Zee News.
The court told the activist to notify Dr. Firuza Parikh of Jaslok hospital where AbRam was born.
“[Parikh] might be the most important person in this matter,” said Justice Jadhav.
“I feel sex determination test is redundant. I don’t know how we are going to prove it. Maybe then we will have to increase our battery of lawyers,” said Khan. “We are trying to overlook such hitches with happiness.”© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
