We recently reported that Katrina Kaif is keeping a close eye on her Bollywood rival Deepika Padukone. Perhaps the “Dhoom 3” actress should keep closer tabs on the “Ram Leela” star because she could take over the leading role in “Dostana 2.”
Deepika Padukone become popular with directors and producers ever since her big hit with “Chennai Express.” Now ApunkaChoice reports that director Tarun Mansukhani wants Padukone for “Dostana 2” instead of Kaif.
Kaif originally played the leading lady in “Dostana,” and now she might lose to Padukone once again. However, the “Ram Leela” star seems to have a full schedule, so she may not be able to do the film.
“Tarun has been tirelessly working on the script on the sequel for quite some time now. However, Karan [Johar] is a difficult man to please. Although, he had finally okayed a draft early this year, it seems now he is not too convinced about it anymore and wants Tarun to rework on it,” said a source to ApunkaChoice.
Filmmakers wanted to start filming the movie around October, which gives Padukone the chance to give her dates for the film because later in January she will begin shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s next movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor. If the scheduling gets delayed, she may have to pass on the offer, which gives Kaif a chance to keep her role.
Kaif also lost to Padukone for the role of leading lady in “Happy New Year” alongside with Shahrukh Khan as well as “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" with her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. Kaif wants to make sure she bags every endorsement deal that comes her way, which is why she is keeping close tabs on Padukone’s brand associations.
“I believe every film has its own course and destiny. I believe films choose me, I don’t choose films. If it’s meant to be it will happen,” said Padukone. “You will know my line up soon. I am focusing on ‘Chennai Express’ promotions and ‘Ram Leela’ ... Whatever announcements have to be made will be made soon.”© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved.
