Coldplay is currently putting the finishing touches to their new single, “Atlas,” a song that was originally written for the movie, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” They announced the news on their official website, which is expected to release on August 26.
The British boy band has agreed to provide a musical contribution to the sequel of the movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. However, fans can get a sneak peak by reading the lyrics to the new song on the website while they wait for the official release on iTunes.
The Star reported that “Atlas” is the first single of the soundtrack to the “Hunger Games” sequel. The other tracks for the movie featuring other artists will be revealed over the following weeks.
In 2012, “The Hunger Games” film featured music from Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, Maroon Five, Neko Case, Kid Cudi, The Decemberists and Miranda Lambert on the album “Songs From District 12 & Beyond.”
“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film,” said Francis Lawrence, director of “Catching Fire” to Entertainment.
“Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world.”
The “Hunger Games” sequel will be released in theaters on November 22, where they will see Lawrence playing the role of Katniss Everdeen, a teenager who becomes the only hope for the oppressed citizens of Panem, a despotic version of the United States. Eventually Katniss becomes an icon of resistance as revolts increase in the districts.
Lawrence’s character will be forced to return to the area to participate in the Quater Quell, making the 75th edition of the legal games designed to entertain the crowds.© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
